The Election Commission has revised the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme of electoral rolls in West Bengal following directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court. The revised schedule has been communicated to the Chief Electoral Officer, West Bengal, for strict compliance with the court’s order dated February 9, 2026, in WP(C) No. 1089/2025 and connected matters.
In its communication, the Commission referred to its earlier letters issued on October 27, 2025, December 30, 2025, and January 15, 2026, and forwarded the Supreme Court’s order for immediate implementation. The decision aims to align the electoral roll revision process with the timelines and safeguards mandated by the apex court.
As per the revised programme, hearings of notices will be completed by February 14, followed by scrutiny of documents and disposal by February 21. Rationalisation of polling stations is scheduled to be completed by February 25, health parameter checks by February 27, and the final publication of the electoral roll will take place on February 28, 2026.
